Explore Nalgonda!

Nalgonda is a town that is located in the Nalgonda District of the State of Andhra Pradesh. The place has been around for many centuries and evidence of Paleolithic and Neolithic sites have been found in the area. The place was ruled by the Bahamani Kingdom and it later came under the rule of the Nizam of Hyderabad. Different influences can be seen in the area as it was rule by different people at different times. The town was earlier known as Nilagiri and was later changed for official purposes. The place experiences drought like conditions. Due to the lack of water, development of the area has been affected.

Many archeological sites can be seen in the area and evidence of flint and tools from the Neolithic period has been found. The place is one of the oldest inhabited areas in the region. The region was also ruled by the Pallavas for certain and they fought with the Yadavas in order to gain supremacy over the region. Nalgonda came under Muslim rule after the Bahami rulers occupied the place. It was also ruled by the Nizam of Hyderabad and the Mughal Kings. Nalgonda is also infamous for its part in the telengana rebellion.
